Welcome to Reparenting the Inner Child

A Masterclass on Building Resilience and Healing Childhood Trauma

Introduction & Overview

Dear Healer,

Thank you. Your decision to invest in this program is not only a commitment to your own learning but also a profound contribution to the ongoing evolution of trauma-informed care. On behalf of Wholehearted.org, Dr. Jennifer Hays-Grudo, Dr. Amanda Sheffield Morris, and I want to express our deepest gratitude for your support.

This masterclass is the result of more than 2,000 hours of work over two years. It is a collaboration between Dr. Jennifer, Dr. Amanda, the Wholehearted team, and myself, AJ Foxx. It was created through countless discussions, research deep dives, media production, an extensive post production process, and the shared goal of making meaningful improvements in how trauma is understood, addressed, and ultimately healed.

Together, we aim to reduce stigma, alleviate suffering, and make trauma-informed care more accessible and actionable. We know that trauma can be an intimidating and complex topic, one that often carries both emotional weight and professional challenge. Our hope is that this program provides clarity, insight, and a framework that empowers you to integrate these teachings into your practice with confidence and compassion.

Bridging the Gap Between Research and Practice

One of Wholehearted.org’s core missions is to bring essential research directly into clinical practice. Historically, it takes an average of ten years for new academic research to fully integrate into mental health treatment models. This delay is due in part to the divide between academics and practitioners, two career paths that do not always intersect as often as they should.

By partnering directly with renowned researchers and thought leaders, Wholehearted.org accelerates this process. This program brings scientific, evidence-based insights to you in a format that is engaging, accessible, and deeply practical. It honors the work of decades of research while ensuring that its application in real-world settings is straightforward and immediately useful to you and your clients.

Your support makes this possible. Wholehearted is a small, mission-driven organization that operates as a not-for-profit. Every program we create is a labor of love, produced with the highest quality possible to respect the importance of this work and the professionals like you who dedicate their lives to healing others.

How This Course is Designed

This masterclass is designed to be an experience rather than a traditional lecture series. The structure mirrors an in-depth workshop, where complex ideas are broken down into digestible lessons that allow for deep engagement, reflection, and application.

Here is what you can expect:

  • Sixteen episodes totaling six and a half hours (380 minutes) of in-depth training
  • A natural flow of topics that builds understanding step by step
  • A combination of scientific insights, real-world applications, and practical tools that you can immediately use in your work
  • A format that encourages you to take your time and not rush through the material

We encourage you to engage with the material as you would in a live workshop. Take breaks to reflect, integrate the teachings into your own professional experiences, and allow time for deeper processing.

A Living, Evolving Course

At Wholehearted.org, we believe in the power of continuous and integrated learning. That is why this program is a living course, meaning we will continue to update and expand it over time.

  • New resources, materials, and tools will be added as they become available
  • Your feedback matters, and we take suggestions to heart. If there is something you would like to see expanded upon, let us know
  • You will always have access to these updates as part of your original purchase

Opportunities for Research Participation

One of the unique aspects of this course is the opportunity to contribute to the field in a meaningful way.

Dr. Jennifer Hays-Grudo and Dr. Amanda Sheffield Morris are renowned researchers who lead the PACEs Lab, where they study Protective and Compensatory Experiences. As part of their ongoing research, you are invited to participate in confidential studies that aim to advance our collective understanding of trauma and resilience.

  • Participation is completely voluntary and used solely for research purposes
  • If you are interested, you can find more information under the “Research Participation & Enrollment” section in the Welcome module of this course
  • Enrollment for research will begin in April or May of 2025

What You Will Learn in This Course

This program provides a comprehensive framework for understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Protective and Compensatory Experiences (PACEs), and the developmental impact of trauma.

Throughout the sixteen episodes, you will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of childhood trauma, its effects on development, and its long-term impacts on health and well-being
  • Learn how to identify both ACEs and PACEs in your clients’ lives and use this framework to guide healing
  • Explore how ChAACEs (Childhood Adaptations to ACEs) and GrAACEs (Grownup Adaptations to ACEs) influence behavior and emotional regulation
  • Develop practical, evidence-based tools to help clients reparent their inner child, build resilience, and integrate past experiences into a healthier, more empowered sense of self
  • Understand intergenerational trauma and how to break cycles of adversity within families
  • Learn how the brain can heal through neuroplasticity and protective experiences, fostering long-term emotional and physical resilience

A Note From AJ

This program is more than a course. It is an invitation to engage with this work on a deeper level, both professionally and personally.

Healing is a collective endeavor. The work you do as a mental health professional has a profound impact on the lives of your clients, their families, and the generations that follow. We hope this masterclass provides you with the tools, insights, and inspiration to continue that journey with renewed clarity, compassion, and confidence.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for your dedication to this work. Thank you for being part of a movement that seeks to heal, to empower, and to transform.

We are honored to walk this path with you.

With deep gratitude,
AJ Foxx
